Engstrom Bodywork Kyoto
Structural Bodywork & Movement Care
Experience the same high-level, results-driven bodywork trusted by clients in Seattle - now available in Kyoto.
Designed for expats, international residents, and health-conscious travelers, these sessions help you move better, feel better, and stay fully present during your time in Japan.
Who This Is For:
Living in or visiting Kyoto can be physically demanding - long days walking, uneven streets, extended travel, desk work, and the lingering effects of past injuries.
These sessions are perfect for you if you want:
-
Relief from persistent pain or stiffness
-
Better posture and alignment
-
More ease in walking, standing, and daily movement
-
A deeper understanding of how your body actually works
This is practical, hands-on care - without medication, quick fixes, or guesswork.

What Makes This Different
In Japan, I do not practice acupuncture or needle-based therapies.
Instead, sessions focus entirely on advanced hands-on bodywork and movement integration:
-
Zen BodyTherapy®: A structural integration approach that helps reorganize fascia, improve alignment, and restore ease in everyday movement.
-
Physio-Synthesis and Posture Restoration Institute methods: Integrating manual therapy with corrective movement to retrain patterns, rather than “chase” pain from one spot to another.
This is not relaxation massage. It is focused, intentional work designed to create real, lasting change.

What To Expect
Sessions are one-to-one, unhurried, and tailored to your body.
You can expect:
-
Hands-on bodywork combined with simple movement
-
Clear explanations of what’s happening and why
-
Immediate shifts in ease, balance, and awareness
-
Practical tools you can use at home, in your hotel, or at work
You’ll leave feeling lighter, more stable, and more connected to how your body moves.

Common Reasons Clients Book
People in Kyoto typically come to see me for:
-
Neck, shoulder, and back pain from travel or desk work
-
Hip, knee, and foot issues from walking or past injuries
-
Postural strain or feeling “compressed” or misaligned
-
Stress, fatigue, and nervous system overload
These sessions work well alongside medical or therapeutic care, but are not a replacement for medical treatment.
