Kyoto Bodywork Services

Experience the same deep, hands-on bodywork and posture-focused care you know from my Seattle practice — now available by appointment in Kyoto. This page is for the local international community and health‑conscious visitors who want to move better, hurt less, and get more out of their time in Japan.

Who These Sessions Are For:

Living in Kyoto — or visiting — can be physically demanding: long walks on stone streets, narrow stairways, hours at a desk or on trains, jet lag, and the cumulative impact of old injuries.

These sessions are designed for expats, digital nomads, and travelers who want rapid, drug‑free, practical help with joint and body pain, stiffness, posture issues, and stress.

What I Offer in Kyoto

In Japan I do not practice acupuncture or any needle‑based modalities, because I am not licensed here.

Instead, Kyoto sessions focus entirely on advanced hands‑on bodywork and movement-based methods, including:

  • Zen BodyTherapy®: A structural integration approach that helps reorganize fascia, improve alignment, and restore ease in everyday movement.

  • Sei Tai–inspired bodywork: Gentle, highly specific work to free blocked areas, calm the nervous system, and support your body’s natural self‑correction.

  • Physio-Synthesis and posture restoration: Integrating manual therapy with corrective movement to retrain patterns, not just “chase” pain from one spot to another.

How a Session Feels

Sessions are unhurried, one‑to‑one, and collaborative. We’ll combine hands‑on work, simple movement, and clear explanations of what is actually happening in your body.

The goal is for you to leave feeling lighter, more stable on your feet, and with a few targeted “home practices” you can use in your daily life, hotel room, or office.

For general body therapy (Zen BodyTherapy® & Physio-Synthesis) boxers or briefs for men; underwear and a bra, a two-piece bathing suit, or jogging attire for women. It’s up to your level of comfort, modesty, and what you have to wear.

Also, please remove all jewelry (necklaces, bracelets, watches, earrings, and so forth) prior to entering the treatment room. If you wear fragrances normally, it is best that you do not for your appointment.

Common Reasons People See Me

People in Kyoto typically come to see me for:

  • Neck, shoulder, and low back pain from computer work or travel.

  • Hip, knee, or foot issues from lots of walking, hiking, or past sports injuries.

  • Postural strain, scoliosis patterns, and “I just feel twisted and compressed.”

  • Stress, poor sleep, or that wired‑but‑tired feeling that never really resets.

These sessions are not a replacement for medical care or emergency treatment, but they often integrate well with what your doctors or therapists are already recommending.
